Lip Blush

A wash of colour

Soft tattooing that enhances the natural shape, tone and definition of your lips. It brings freshness and colour back to pale or faded lips, softly and naturally, never like lipstick.

A great option if you:

  • Have pale, faded or uneven lip tone
  • Would like softly enhanced definition
  • Have scarring or unevenness to soften
  • Want natural colour without the upkeep

What to Expect

The process

Consultation & mapping
We talk through your goals, then map the shape to your features and custom mix your colour before anything begins.
The treatment
The area is numbed for comfort and the pigment is applied by hand. Most appointments take around 1.5 to 2.5 hours.
Healing
Your tattoo softens and settles over the next 1 to 6 weeks.
Perfecting visit
A perfecting visit is recommended at 6 to 8 weeks to refine the shape and colour. This is a separate follow-up appointment.

Aftercare

Your healing journey

Days 1 to 2
Bolder and darker than the final result. Keep the area clean and dry, and follow your aftercare.
Days 3 to 5
Light flaking begins. It is important not to pick or scratch, just let it settle naturally.
Days 5 to 7
Colour can look light and almost faded. This is completely normal as the skin heals over the pigment.
Weeks 2 to 4
The colour gradually returns, softens and continues to settle.
Weeks 6 to 8
Your healed result can now be properly assessed. Your perfecting touch up visit is now required to lock in structure and colour.

Cosmetic tattoo FAQ

What is cosmetic tattooing?
Cosmetic tattooing, also called semi-permanent makeup, gently implants pigment into the skin to enhance your brows or lips. Unlike a traditional tattoo it sits closer to the surface and is designed to soften and fade over time, so it always looks natural.
What age do I need to be?
You need to be 18 or over to have any cosmetic tattoo treatment.
Does it hurt?
A numbing gel is used throughout to keep you comfortable. Most clients find it far gentler than expected and many relax completely.
How long does it last?
Typically around 2 to 3 years, softening gradually over time. How long it lasts varies with your skin type, lifestyle and sun exposure. Most clients come in for an annual colour refresh to keep it looking its best.
What is the perfecting visit?
Cosmetic tattoo is built over two appointments. A perfecting visit is recommended at 6 to 8 weeks, once healed, to refine the shape and colour. It is a separate follow-up appointment.
Why does it look dark at first?
It is meant to. Cosmetic tattoo always looks bolder for the first few days, then softens by up to a third as it heals into its natural colour.
Who is it not suitable for?
Treatment may not be suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking blood thinning medication, using Roaccutane or acne medication, prone to keloid scarring, undergoing chemotherapy, experiencing skin irritation, infection, eczema, psoriasis or sunburn in the treatment area, or unwell or immunocompromised. If you are unsure, please contact us before booking.
How should I prepare?
Before your appointment: avoid alcohol for 24 hours, avoid caffeine and energy drinks on the day, avoid active skincare products (retinol, acids, exfoliants) for 1 to 2 weeks, avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning, and do not wax, tint, laminate or exfoliate the treatment area beforehand.
What is the healing like?
Expect a few days where it looks bolder, followed by light flaking and a phase where the colour may appear faint. Over the full 6 weeks, the colour continues to soften and settle. Full aftercare is provided.
Can you tattoo over an old or faded tattoo?
Often, yes. Correctional work is assessed case by case at your consultation, so send a photo when you enquire.
